The Big Question with Go Karts For Sale – Buy New or Used?

Posted by admin  Published in Sports

Go Karts For Sale Ontario The Go Kart world is an incredible four wheeled sport that brings a ton of joy and fun for kids, and even entraps a few adults. Whether go karts are just a fun recreational activity, short hobby or an embraced profession, no one can deny the incredible experience it brings with it. There is a large number of individuals who take the sport to a personal level by buying a go kart to call their own and competing in a series of go kart races.

Finding Go Karts for sale is not too hard, however, how someone would purchase a go kart would all depend on their level of dedication, finances and patience. You can purchase a go kart used or new, but there are pretty large differences between the two.

Buy a New Go Kart for Sale

A new Go Kart can be purchased in many different ways but the most reliable and suggested route is to purchase through a local recreational vehicle shop. Buying from a local shop comes with much more reliability and the go kart is more guaranteed to perform. If you have any issues directly after sale, most shops are more than happy to look it over and ensure their vehicle is in proper condition. They care about their reputation and are not going to sell you a dud.

Most new go karts are ordered in a kit that you can put together yourself and the engine is sold separately or can be customized for your needs. Buying new is great for those with little patience as you can typically customize your entire kart, engine and accessories to be exactly what you want and it can take less than a day to finalize your complete order, getting the most recent technology and gadgets available for your level of skill and desired recreational output.

The biggest reason many people decide not to go with purchasing a new go kart is because of finances. It is way more expensive to buy new then it is to buy used, and depreciation begins right away. As soon as your tires hit that track, the resale value of your kart goes down drastically. If you are looking to professionally race, you may be able to gather a sponsor who would in turn help you pay for your new Go Kart and the accessories needed.

Many tracks have specifications that you need to follow, so buying a go kart from a local shop can be handy as you can discuss with a specialist what the best engine and accessories are for your new go kart, making sure that your engine is suitable for your kart and accepted on whatever track you may want to ride on.

Buy a Used Go Kart for Sale

You have a few more options when buying a used go kart. Some local recreational vehicle shops also carry an inventory of used go karts, at a much lower cost than their new ones. You can also find used go karts that may need some work on classified sites like Craigslist or Kijiji. Some people find the hunt and build approach to be their cup of tea. By using sites like the ones mentioned above as well as ebay and other online markets, you can find all the go kart parts you need to build your own custom go kart. Although it can take some searching, patience, time and knowledge, you can make a project out of the entire shop and building experience.

Any of these options are using much cheaper than buying a brand new go kart, although in most cases, a good knowledge of the karts is pretty important when buying a go kart this route. If you don’t have much knowledge in the area, be sure to bring someone else along who can help you navigate through the junk.

If you are purchasing a go kart privately, there is little to no guarantee that it will last you very long or hold up after purchase. Plus, technology is constantly advancing and at a fast pace too. An older, used go kart may not be up to date with the best parts and fastest technology.  If you buy an older go kart that needs a little TLC, it could get expensive to try and fix, or upgrade it to your desired level. Most used go karts will require heavy maintenance and repairs, if not an entirely new engine.

Keep in mind, almost every track has specific rules and regulations that your kart must line up to. You have to be careful that you are not buying an engine that is not legal for your kart and/or class of go kart racing you are hoping to enter.

Don’t let all these precautions lead you astray from buying a go kart used. Sometimes it can come with great benefits like extra parts being thrown into the deal such as tires, accessories, gear, trailer etc. Just remember if you do decide to go with a used go kart, it is suggested that you do not buy one that is more than 5 years old.
